Balboa Park is filled with many beautiful sights and is full of history. It's actually the 2nd oldest park in the nation, right behind Central Park in New york City. As one of San Diego's most visited places for tourists all around the world, there are so many things that you can do. Like visit the museums, head over to the Zoo right next door, or even just to walk around . But one place that you should check out is the Japanese Friendship Garden.

This garden has so much history into the development of the the site. Originally, it used to be a Japanese Teahouse exhibit located north of the Botanical Building where the Children's Zoo currently is. It was until in 1955, the City of San Diego planned to relocate and restore a Japanese Garden in Balboa Park on an expanded site. For approximately 50 years of planning and designing, the Garden is what it is today.

It's right by the Organ Pavilion, you can't miss the big sign that says "Japanese Friendship Garden -
San Diego". The first thing that you see after the stone sign is the Tea Pavilion. It serves as a restaurant and the entrance to the garden. Within the garden, you'll get to see bonsai trees, a waterfall, a koi pond, and a nice pathway to guide you. It's a perfect way to relax and walk around such a magnificent site of nature and beauty. If you need to find a place to find peace, I would recommend a trip to the Japanese Friendship Garden.
